The Tour
We specialize in small group tours for people that want to form a deeper connection with the local area and its people.
First stop is the dock where we keep our small commercial fishing boat and our mornings catch of crab. This is your chance to ask any questions about Alaska commercial fishing and crabbing, and to see how the gear works. Next, we're off to our garden and favorite foraging spots for a short walk through our berry patch and forest. We will teach you how we survive & thrive in this challenging environment. There is even a chance we will see coastal brown bears (don't worry, we will keep you safe). After a couple more stops in the village to see the sights it's back to Hoonah Beach House for an all you should eat crab feast on our private deck over the water!
The Crab Feed
Our tour ends on the deck at Hoonah Beach House for fresh crab and dessert. Many people tell us our crab is the best they have ever eaten. The reason for this is simple: Alaska dungeness crab are very high quality, and we catch it ourselves and cook it fresh.
Sit back and relax, or get involved as we show you the local way to cook, clean, and crack crab. Homemade dessert is also available made with wild Alaska berries foraged on our property. The deck is also a good vantage point for wildlife photography. Eagles are a common sight, and humpback whales frequent the area.
